CURRENT PROJECTS (2019 - 2020):

Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMP) Updates
2019-2020 (10 County Project) Throughout all of 2019 into early 2020, Bonnie is working with U-Spatial at the University of MN - Duluth (U-Spatial@UMD) on the update of 10 Minnesota county MHMP updates. Counties include: Beltrami, Clay, Clearwater, Lake of the Woods, Norman, Blue Earth, Brown, Martin, Sherburne and St. Louis County. Throughout the process, Bonnie is working with a total of 99 jurisdictions (counties & cities) to gather information on local capabilities & community vulnerabilities and develop locally-specific mitigation action plans. Bonnie works closely with County Emergency Managers to engage communities and key stakeholders, facilitate meetings, assist in public outreach, document the planning process and ensure identification of future projects that may be eligible for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant funding.
2020-2021 (17 County, 1 Tribe Project) Beginning in early 2020, Bonnie will continue working with the U-Spatial@UMD team on a next batch of MHMP updates, this time working with 17 counties and 1 tribe. Counties include: Rock, Carlton, Kandiyohi, Mahnomen, Dodge, Otter Tail, Aitkin, Koochiching, Sibley, Traverse, Itasca, Stevens, LeSueur, McLeod, Cass, Renville and Watonwan. Tribal Plan: White Earth Reservation. Throughout the planning process Bonnie will be working closely with Emergency Managers, local governments & staff and other key agency stakeholders from 180 jurisdictions (counties, cities, and tribal reservation). Work with this group will continue through to early 2021.

(2018) Freeborn County "Back on Track" Railway HazMat Tabletop Exercise (click for flyer)
During the Fall of 2018 Bonnie worked with Freeborn County Emergency Management to modify the “Back on Track” HazMat Railway Incident tabletop exercise as a multi-jurisdictional exercise for Freeborn County. The TTX was designed for local elected & appointed officials, department staff, Emergency Managers, and First Responders (Fire, Law Enforcement, and EMS) from Freeborn County and the cities of Albert Lea, Alden, Clarks Grove, and Glenville as part of the County’s local emergency preparedness training & exercise program. 7-County Project / Bois Forte Reservation / Cook County & Grand Portage Reservation
During all of 2018, Bonnie worked with the University of Minnesota-Duluth-Geospatial Analysis Center (now U-Spatial@UMD) to update Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plans for the following 7 Minnesota counties: Carver, Nicollet, Ramsey, Rice, Todd, Waseca, and Winona, as well as development of a new tribal MHMP for the Bois Forte Reservation. During 2018 Bonnie & the UMD team also worked with Cook County and the Grand Portage Reservation to develop a shared plan and Tribal-specific Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex.

During 2018, Bonnie worked with 8 communities within the East Iron Range of northern St. Louis County on the update of their jurisdictional Emergency Operations Plans (EOP's). Jurisdictions included: City of Virginia, City of Mountain Iron, City of Aurora, Town of White, City of Hoyt Lakes, City of Eveleth, Fayal Township, and City of Gilbert. Following the EOP Update project, Bonnie worked with the cities of Mountain Iron and Virginia in the fall of 2018 to update each city's Emergency Management ordinances as part of their respective City Codes.

Bonnie worked with UMD's Geospatial Analysis Center (now U-Spatial@UMD) to provide technical assistance to the following ten Minnesota counties in the update of their multi-hazard mitigation plan updates: Hubbard, Crow Wing, Wilkin, Grant, Benton, Wabasha, Olmsted, Steele, Freeborn, and Faribault. All plans were formally approved by the State of MN HSEM and FEMA.

(2016) Fond du Lac Reservation EOP Update & Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex
During 2016, Bonnie worked with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa to develop a new Emergency Operations Plan and Tribal Mitigation Plan Annex to the Carlton County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

(2016) AMEM Conference "Operation Shiver" Tabletop Exercise

(2015) HSEM Region 2 - Regional Planner (AREMA)
In 2015, Bonnie served HSEM Region 2 - Arrowhead Region Emergency Management Association (AREMA) as the Regional Planner.
